Captain Jane Scott began her career with Boca Raton Police Services Department in 1991 as a Community Service Officer in the Traffic Division. In 1993, she became a Police Officer with the Agency subsequently becoming a Field Training Officer and later was assigned to the Investigative Service Bureau as a detective working both property and persons crimes. In 2000, she was promoted to Sergeant and in 2007 to Lieutenant. As a Sergeant and Lieutenant in the Department, Captain Scott worked in various assignments in addition to commanding the Honor Guard Team and being a member of the Department’s Critical Incident Stress Management Team. Captain Scott was promoted to her current rank in 2014 where she took over responsibility as the Investigative Services Bureau Commander and in 2020 was assigned to the Special Services Bureau responsible for the Communications, Crime Analysis and Special Operations Sections.

Captain Scott received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Edinboro State University, Pennsylvania. She has attended the F.B.I. Florida Executive Development Course, Southern Police Institute’s Command Officer’s Development Course, D.E.A.’s Drug Unit Commander Academy and Senior Management Institute for Police.

Captain Scott is a member of several professional organizations including: Police Executive Research Forum; The National Association of Women Law Enforcement Executives; International Association of Chiefs of Police, Florida Police Chief’s Association; and the Palm Beach County Police Chief’s Association.
