Assistant Chief Juan Carlos Pijuan began his career with the Boca Raton Police Services Department in 2001, after serving four years of active duty with the United States Air Force. In 2004, he was transferred to the Investigative Services Bureau where he served as a Property Crimes Investigator, an Economic Crimes Investigator, and as a Crimes Against Persons Investigator.
Assistant Chief Pijuan was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2011 and was assigned as a supervisor in Road Patrol. In 2012, he was transferred to the Investigative Services Bureau, where he supervised the Economic Crimes Unit. In 2013, he assumed command of the Vice, Intelligence, and Narcotics Unit up until his promotion to Lieutenant in 2016. In 2019 Assistant Chief Pijuan was promoted to Captain of road patrol. In 2021, Assistant Chief Pijuan was transferred to Professional Standards Bureau. In 2023, he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief.
Assistant Chief Pijuan has a Bachelors & Masters degree in Criminal Justice from Lynn University and is a graduate of the International Academy of Polygraph Techniques. He has been a member of the department’s Underwater Search and Recovery Team since 2005 and currently holds the position of Dive Team Commander.
Assistant Chief Pijuan has been recognized twice as the Officer of the Month and was selected as the 2008 Officer of the Year.
