Lieutenant Jorge Romero began his law enforcement career in the United States Coast Guard and after twelve years of active duty service he joined the Boca Raton Police Services Department in 2000 as a Road Patrol Officer. Lieutenant Romero continued to serve in the United Stated Coast Guard Reserves until he retired from the service in 2009.
Lieutenant Romero was transferred to the Investigative Services Bureau in 2003 where he served as an Organized Crime Investigator. He returned to Road Patrol in 2007and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2009. In 2010 Lieutenant Romero returned to the Investigative Services Bureau and served as the Economic Crimes Unit sergeant. In 2012, Lieutenant Romero was transferred to the Professional Standards Bureau where he remained until 2015 when he was promoted to Lieutenant.
LT Romero is currently assigned to the strategic operations section.
Lieutenant Romero has a Bachelors Degree of Applied Science in Criminal Justice from Ashworth College, and is a graduate of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Leadership Academy as well as the FBI’s Hazardous Devices School. He has been a member of the Department’s Bomb Squad since 2005.
