The Boca Raton Public Library is pleased to present a new art exhibit, “Soul Doodles.” These abstract paintings are anchored in the sometimes comedic but always earnest reality of artist Scott Jeffries. After years of practicing law in Philadelphia, Jeffries moved to Boca Raton to pursue his true passion as an artist. As he developed his technique, his abstract tendency became more pronounced: trees transformed into wisps of color; bodies simplified into shapes; fish turned into loud, neon personalities; faces, just splashes of primary color. Ultimately, Jeffries’ painting is an irreverent expression of his sub-conscious, an invitation into his brain where space and form are imagined from a decidedly different angle.

BRPL continues its 2018 Story Central theme, "Discover Your Stories," with a performance by one of the nation's foremost storytellers, Judith Black. She has been creating and telling compelling, humorous and riveting stories for 35 years to motivate, humanize, entertain and teach.
In her upcoming presentation, “Retiring the Champ,” the bell sounds, and this lifelong fighter, granddaughter of the Grand Rabbi of Jerusalem, immigrant child, teacher and union organizer bounds from her corner punching. But at 83, Trina forgets which direction her opponent is coming from. This is a story about family, faith, and coaching a feisty prizewinner through her last big bout in a ring filled with laughter and redemption.
