September 1, 2017 - September 30, 2017 @ Boca Raton Public Library - Downtown
The Boca Raton Public Library is pleased to exhibit “In the Fog,” by photographer Irina Dakhnovskaia-Lawton, at the Downtown Library. Dakhnovskaia-Lawton's beautiful and delicate prints channel pictorialism, a style of photography that was popular at the turn of the 20th century using soft-focus techniques to imitate academic painting. Born in Latvia, then raised and educated in Moscow, Dakhnovskaia-Lawton is now a resident of South Florida. She began photographing professionally in 1996 while living and working in Eritrea, North Africa, and later in Guinea, West Africa. She has also worked as a freelance photographer in China and the Russian Far East. She earned an MFA in photography from the Maine Media College in Rockport, Maine, and is now a resident artist at the Bakehouse Art Complex in Miami. Her work has been shown internationally at museums, art fairs, and galleries and in magazines and newspapers.
