Wading in the Intracoastal Waterway just behind Gumbo Limbo, we catch (and release) fish, shrimp, crabs, and more! With hand-held dip nets and large seine nets, get up close and personal with our local marine life. Closed-toe shoes required (old sneakers or water shoes; no sandals). Bring a change of clothes and towel. Ages 10-adult; children under 18 must sign-up and participate with an adult.

Programs are subject to cancellation if a minimum sign-up is not reached 48 hours before the start of the program. No refunds unless a program is cancelled by Gumbo Limbo Nature Center. Richard Vergez is a Cuban-American visual artist whose background in graphic design and audio/visual collaboration is reflected through his handmade collaged works on paper and mixed media. His art has been featured at No Romance Galleries in NYC, Chicago Urban Arts Society and Kids of Dada in London, as well as numerous blogs and international publications. "Abstract structures, negative space, found objects, and geometrical figures are prominent in my work," notes Vergez. "I explore the way shapes interact with each other, and how they interact with the empty space around them."

The Boca Raton Public Library, along with public libraries in South Florida and around the country, is launching its annual Summer Reading program. This year’s theme, “Build a Better World,” has library staff geared up to provide activities, classes and great reads all summer long to inspire all ages to learn how they can impact their community and the world. The festivities begin with a Kick-Off Party on Saturday, June 10, from 10:00am-12:00pm at the Spanish River Library, 1501 NW Spanish River Blvd. The whole family is invited to play games, enjoy snacks, and listen to a live DJ. Special guests include the City of Boca Raton’s big trucks, FAU Athletics, Palm Beach County’s Environmental Resources Management, Solid Waste Authority, All Aboard Florida, and Youth Environmental Alliance.
