Story Central: Peninnah's World: A Jewish Life in Stories
Saturday, January 15, 2022
At age eighty-seven, Peninnah Schram is still one of the world’s busiest and most respected Jewish storytellers and folklorists. Caren Schnur Neile’s new biography-in-stories is a testament to Schram’s remarkable life -- including friendships with Elie Wiesel and Isaac Bashevis Singer -- and work. Dr. Neile will tell some of these stories and read from the book, as well as discuss the importance of storying our lives.
Neile has taught storytelling studies at Florida Atlantic University for more than two decades and appears weekly on public radio WLRN. Her numerous publications include the books Florida Lore and Only in Florida, both published by the History Press, as well as a column in the Jewish Journal.
