Captain Sean Flynn began his career with the Boca Raton Police Services Department in 1999. Prior to becoming a police officer, Captain Flynn served in the United States Coast Guard from 1992-1999. Captain Flynn spent the majority of his police career assigned to the Investigative Services Bureau as a detective in both the Organized Crime Unit and Special Investigations Unit.
In 2013, Captain Flynn was promoted to the rank of sergeant. As a sergeant, he supervised various night shift Road Patrol squads and later served as the Crime Prevention Unit Supervisor. In 2017, Captain Flynn was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and returned to Road Patrol, assuming the role of Watch Commander.
During his tenure at the department, Captain Flynn has received numerous awards to include: The Lifesaving Award, Meritorious Service Award, Unit Citations, Officer of the Month, and 2011 Police Officer of the Year. Captain Flynn is a Hazardous Devices Technician and was a long-time member of the Bomb Squad. He is also a police diver and is currently the commander of the Underwater Search and Recovery Team.
Captain Flynn has a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Lynn University.
