Assistant Chief Buhr began his career with the Boca Raton Police Services Department in 1995 as a telecommunicator. He became a police officer in 1997, serving as a Patrol Officer, Motorcycle Officer, SWAT team member, Training Officer, and Background Investigator. In 2004, he was promoted to Sergeant where he served as a Patrol Supervisor and the Motorcycle/Marine Unit supervisor. In 2015, he was promoted to Lieutenant where he began as the Special Operations Commander and served as the Investigative Services, Major Crimes Lieutenant. In 2017, he was promoted to Captain in charge of Special Services.
Actiing Assistant Chief Buhr earned his Bachelor's Degree in Public Safety Administration from Florida Atlantic University and has received several awards including Meritorious Service Award, Unit Citation and the City of Boca Raton Supervisor of the Year.
