[ARCHIVED] City Hosts Free Memorial Day Events to Honor Those Who Died in Service

Memorial Day Special Events & Activities

In honor of Memorial Day and in remembrance of all military personnel who died in service to the United States, the City of Boca Raton Recreation Services Department will host a full week of events free and open to the public.

The week of events starts on Monday, May 27 at 9 am at the Boca Raton Cemetery (449 SW 4th Ave) with a commemorative ceremony featuring veteran speakers, City officials, music by the Fort Lauderdale Highlanders, Coastman Chorus and Boca Raton High School Band, with drills by the Boca Raton High School NJROTC and the Boca Raton Police and Fire Guards.

Bring a blanket or chair (available to rent for $5 or free for veterans) and enjoy a free concert under the stars at the Mizner Park Amphitheater (590 Plaza Real) starting at 7 pm featuring the New Gardens Band with vocal accompaniment by Brandon Mills, conducted by Dwight Robert Roadman. 

On Wednesday, May 29, the Spanish River Library (1501 NW Spanish River Blvd) will host its annual Military Intel Program at 12 pm. This program provides veterans and their families information about benefits, counseling, jobs and more. Veterans are welcome to explore and learn more about the many programs and benefits available to them.

End the week with Yoga for Veterans at the Boca Raton Community Center (150 Crawford Blvd) from 6 pm to 7 pm on Friday, May 31. Veterans and their families are invited to enjoy this free yoga class with Connected Warriors, Inc., who empower service members, veterans and their families through trauma-conscious yoga.
