Palm Beach County Engineering and Public Works Division and its contractor, Kiewit Infrastructure South, Co., will begin a $9 million dollar rehabilitation of the Camino Real Bridge in 2018 (Project no. 2003501). The bridge is scheduled to close April 12, 2018 and will be closed for one year. Maintenance of traffic and detour signs will direct drivers to use the Palmetto Park Road bridge.
The new bridge will have a similar architectural design, the same clearance height and a similar railing. The bridge tender's house, however, will be moved to the north side of the bridge, and the width of the bridge will be slightly wider, allowing for increased room for bicyclists and pedestrians.
Construction will take place Monday- Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. General questions about the bridge project can be directed to Palm Beach County Project Manager, Sandra Ospina, [email protected] at 561-684-4150. Questions relating to construction concerns, such as noise or hours of operation, can be directed to project Administrator, Andres Atehortua, [email protected] 786-236-0791.
