[ARCHIVED] MLK Jr. Celebrations to Include Concert, Ceremony & March This Weekend

City of Boca Raton Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration

The City of Boca Raton will commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a weekend concert, ceremony & celebration.

Saturday, January 13  7:00 PM  Concert at Sanborn Square (72 N. Federal Hwy.)

  • Local bands and recording artists, spoken word & food vendors

Monday, January 15 

  • 9:30am - Ceremony held at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial site (200 NE Ruby St.)
  • Following the Ceremony, join the community on a celebration march to Sanborn Square (72 N. Federal Hwy.) to the family celebration event
    NOTE: Federal Hwy. southbound from NE 11th Street to NE 2nd St. will be CLOSED ONLY from 11am - 11:30am (approx. 30 minutes)
  • 11am-3pm - Family Celebration with music, activities, face painting, rides, slides, and vendors.

These events are FREE for the public.

PLEASE NOTE:

* In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr Day, City offices will be closed Monday, January 15.
Recreational facilities open with amended hours: Sugar Sand Park Community Center, Carousel & Field House.
Facilities open with regular hours: parks, golf courses, swim centers, tennis centers, the skateboard park and shuffleboard courts, Gumbo Limbo Nature Center.


* Holiday Sanitation Schedule 
 Due to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day observance, there is NO Sanitation Service on Monday, January 15.
      Monday Service is rescheduled to Tuesday, January 16.
      Tuesday Service is rescheduled to Wednesday, January 17.
