Boca Raton Building Department Expedites Permits for Hurricane Related Repairs

BOCA RATON, FLA – September 21, 2017- As the Boca Raton community cleans up and recovers from Hurricane Irma, many homeowners and business owners are beginning to assess damage and make needed repairs. In order to assist residents and businesses, the City of Boca Raton will be expediting all hurricane related repairs including roof, window and screen enclosure repairs, until October 13, 2017.

Owners and contractors can apply for and receive permits over the counter at 200 NW 2nd Avenue from 8:00am- 4:00pm weekdays, except Wednesdays until 3:00pm. Repair work can start once permits are issued, and additional application requirements can be deferred. 

Hurricane related repairs eligible for expedited permitting include:

  • Pool barriers
  • Windows
  • Doors
  • Roof
  • Awnings
  • Docks
  • Sheds
  • Boat lifts
  • Irrigation
  • Electrical services
  • Generators
  • Roof top solar panels

No permits are necessary to repair or replace existing permitted fences through October 31, 2017.

The Boca Raton Building Department has a NEW Interactive Permit Submittal Map that allows residents to visualize common residential repair items that require a permit. Users can click on the item and see the necessary application process for the permit. 

 For additional information, residents can view video tutorials about the permit process and estimate permit fees. The Boca Raton Building Department is available to assist customers at 393-7930, Mon-Fri from 8:00am– 4:00pm & Wednesdays until 3:00 pm.
