In the event of a hurricane or serious emergency, the City’s communication team will keep you updated with public safety alerts. Messaging may include information about city services, available resources and evacuations.

When Hurricane Matthew threatened South Florida last September, the City sent a Code Red alert message to subscribed Boca Raton residents letting them know when the Emergency Operations Center was activated. Once activated, the City and the Police Department worked together to provide updates on Twitter, Facebook and Nixle. The Citizens Information Center (CIC) opened and began taking calls from residents and providing support and assistance. Boca Raton’s CIC is staffed with volunteers who are available to answer calls before, during and after the storm.

This year, residents have an additional opportunity for communication and information through AlertPBC. AlertPBC is a Palm Beach County Emergency Notification system that provides all County updates, in addition to City updates. AlertPBC may be especially beneficial for those who live in Boca Raton and work elsewhere in the County, or vice versa.

Getting the right information to the right people at the right time allows individuals to make informed decisions for themselves, their families and their businesses. To stay connected before, during and after a storm, be sure to sign up and opt in to receive public safety alerts.

  1. Text your zip code to 888777 to receive Nixle public safety alerts from the Boca Raton Police Department.
