Hear Ralph Krugler, author and historian, explain the mission of the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse Preservation Society to promote the history of the Hillsboro Lighthouse Station and the Hillsboro inlet area through preservation of structure and artifacts, education and public access tours. The primary goal of the Society at its inception was the restoration and repair of the Hillsboro Light’s original Fresnel lens and its reactivation in the Lighthouse beacon for the safety of the mariners on our waters, the opening of the Hillsboro Lighthouse and its grounds for the education and enjoyment of the public, and the continued support of the community in maintaining the lighthouse for future generations.
