No Feminism, No Future: Women and Climate Change

In celebration of Women’s History Month, Jane Caputi, PhD, will focus on the ways that gender injustices impact causes, consequences and solutions for climate change. She will also be highlighting the girls and women globally who lead the movement. Enrollment required. A link to the virtual presentation will be emailed upon enrollment.

Presenter: Jane Caputi is Professor of Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies at Florida Atlantic University. She has won the Distinguished Teacher of the Year Award as well as Scholar of the Year Award and teaches classes on ecofeminism and environmental justice, including Green Consciousness and Gender and Climate Change. She has made the educational documentary Feed the Green: Feminist Voices for the Earth, and her latest book is Call Your “Mutha’”: A Deliberately Dirty-Minded Manifesto for the Earth Mother in the Anthropocene, Oxford University Press, 2020.

Caputi will be joined by Daniella Orias, who is currently in the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies MA program at Florida Atlantic University, where she is also a Graduate Teaching Assistant. She recently published an article with Dr. Nicole Morse entitled “No One is Disposable: Ecofeminism and Climate Crisis” (2020). She also published an article with Dr. Jane Caputi entitled “Monoculture & Mono-woman: An Ecofeminist Critique” (2013). Along with her work in academia, she ran a 28-acre organic permaculture farm, worked for the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps, and taught nature education through AmeriCorps and at Sunflower Creative Arts Center (Delray Beach, FL).
