Prepare, Respond and Recover from Disasters and Emergencies

Wednesday, May 15, 2019

Are you ready for hurricane season? The Boca Raton Public Library wants to help! In “Prepare, Respond and Recover from Disasters and Emergencies,” representatives from the City of Boca Raton will discuss how the City prepares for potential threats. An accredited insurance advisor will also address what steps and preparations you can take in advance to protect yourself, as well as your family, home, property and business. An opportunity to ask questions will be provided.

Hurricane season begins on June 1. The 2019 Atlantic hurricane season may see fewer storms and hurricanes, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be less dangerous, according to the Colorado State University Tropical Meteorology Project. With 13 named storms, five hurricanes and two major hurricanes predicted for this season, it only takes one landfall to cause significant damage to our local community. Both new and long-term residents need to have the most current information to be ready for potentially damaging weather and unexpected hardship. Preparation is key to minimizing the effects and ensuring the safety of people and property.
