Transportation Demand Management

The City of Boca Raton adopted a Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Ordinance in 2002. The goal of this ordinance is to reduce peak period traffic and to reduce single occupancy vehicle trips by requiring downtown businesses which employ more than 50 employees, residential developments with more than 30 units, or mixed-use/planned mobility developments to implement a TDM plan. The TDM plan includes strategies to manage transportation such as flex time, compressed work weeks, telecommuting, carpooling and vanpooling, use of transit, walking and bike riding.
