Available Volunteer Opportunities
Due to current pandemic conditions, there are no active volunteer opportunities available. The following is a sample listing of areas in which volunteers may offer their services.
Volunteers will assist in teaching the fundamentals of various youth sports teams being coached. Training will be provided to all coaches and assistant coaches.
Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.)
(Currently inactive) Volunteers 18 years of age or older are required to attend a basic nine week training course focusing on emergency response. The volunteer assists in providing immediate guidance for victims and their neighborhoods in order to respond to and cope with the aftermath of a disaster.
Gumbo Limbo Nature Center
Gumbo Limbo Nature Center offers various volunteer opportunities to fit the interests and experiences of volunteers and to match them with the needs of Gumbo Limbo. Some opportunities include working with the public as a marine tank guide, garden volunteer working in the butterfly garden, green thumb assisting in maintaining the container plant garden and landscaping that surrounds the Center where the volunteer will be outside, or inside at the greeter’s desk greeting visitors and assisting with providing information and directions. Preferred age is 16 years or older. Volunteer times are from Monday-Sunday and hours vary according to the needs of the department.
Downtown Library and Spanish River Library teen volunteers assist in areas such as Youth Services Department or Events and Community Engagement (ECE) Department assisting staff with youth and teen programs. Some adult volunteers may be accepted to assist in the area of Events and Community Engagement Department assisting staff with youth or adult programs. Volunteers as young as 14 years of age may be accepted for some positions. Volunteer times are from Monday-Saturday and hours vary according to the needs of the Department.
Recreation Department – Sugar Sand Park
Volunteers assist in areas such as the science explorium, serving as an usher or technician at Willow Theatre, or assisting with special events and activities. Volunteers as young as 14 years of age can be accepted for some positions. Volunteer times are from Monday-Sunday and hours vary according to the needs of the department.
Volunteers, under the supervision of the Athletic Supervisor, assists as sports scorekeeper for various adult or youth sports leagues and programs. The scorekeeper will maintain the official scorebook and/or clock for adult and youth games. Preferred age of volunteer is 16 years or older. Volunteer times are from Monday-Sunday and hours vary according to the needs of the department.
Throughout the year, there will be volunteer opportunities with special events that are being held throughout the City.
Starter/Ranger (Regulation and Executive Golf Courses)
Volunteer assists in organizing and directing tee-off area for golfers and keeps track of number of participants. Volunteer will be outside assigned to various other tasks associated with starter/ranger duties. Preferred age is 18 years or older. Volunteer times are from Monday-Sunday and hours vary according to the needs of the department.
Special Events Recycling Ambassador
Be a part of keeping Boca Raton sustainable! A major challenge to recycling at events is making sure attendees are using the bins appropriately. The Recycling Ambassadors will help attendees make the right choice between trash bins and recycle bins and will help vendors manage their recyclable materials. Opportunities will be available periodically throughout the year.
