The health and wellbeing of all our park patrons and team members have always been, and will continue to be, our top priority in the Recreation Services Department. I write to you on May 26th as our Department works within State and County restrictions to open more amenities for all our City and Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District residents. While the past two months have been uncharted waters for everyone, Recreation Services continues to maintain public access to our parks while ensuring a safe outdoor environment. Parks, trails, and beaches are a vital part of community health and wellness and are currently open with adjusted hours and open amenities.
Our tennis and aquatics centers, skate park, dog park and municipal golf course and red reef golf course are also open. Each facility has modified hours, and patrons must schedule times to swim, play tennis and receive a tee time. Go HERE for all the information. The Department also opened Library drive through book drops and started curbside library pick-up service for patrons who have books on hold. Please visit https://www.myboca.us/957/Library for more information. The vast majority of our parks and beaches have also reopened. Patrons may purchase beach permits at the Boca Raton Community Center (Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm). Please see eligibility requirements at www.myboca.us/347/Beach-Permits.
Our parks and recreation professionals who serve you know that all these outdoor amenities can continue to be used in a safe manner that will allow our residents to enjoy the mental and physical health benefits these spaces provide. Please know that the entire Recreation Services team is working hard to preserve these spaces and keep them safe and accessible to our community during this time. I’m truly thankful to the team for all their service and hard work during this challenging period.
Finally, I want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we, as a united community, work to support and keep our neighbors and each other safe.
Michael J. Kalvort, CPRE
