What does the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) do?
According to the OIG website, the OIG provides independent and objective, insight, oversight, and foresight in promoting efficiency, effectiveness, and integrity in government. It accomplishes these goals through audits, investigations, and contract oversight activities.
The OIG jurisdiction includes the Palm Beach County Government and each of the 38 municipalities. Other public entities that have voluntarily entered into contracts for oversight by the OIG include the Children’s Services Council and the Solid Waste Authority. The OIG currently employs 23 employees and has plans to increase the staffing level to 40 employees.
